2013 Competition.

In December we held a competition to come up with the best name for the next version of our consumer products. With all the superstition surrounding the number 13, it was no easy task!

Now I have two pieces of news, good news and, well … actually the other is not so bad either.

First, the Grand Product Jury could not choose an outright winner – despite receiving almost 2,000 suggestions. So the identity of version 2013 is still up for grabs. Maybe closer to the release date we’ll come back to one of the options put forward here.

And the second piece of news: the Grand Product Jury selected not one, but five winners! It wasn’t quite as simple as that – some suggestions came from lots of different participants, so we had to choose our winner using the proven ‘first come, first served’ formula. Therefore, the prizes go to those who suggested these ideas first!

The best variants are as follows:

  • KAV/KIS XIII
  • KAV/KIS Dragon
  • KAV/KIS 2013 Lucky edition
  • KAV/KIS NEW (“No End of the World”)
  • KAV/KIS 15th Anniversary Special Edition

… so the winners are:

  • Andrew Mallender
  • Muneeb Ahmed
  • Carlos Alberto Oliveros Sánchez
  • xoxmodav
  • Shay Glenn

Also a special prize goes to Sergey Lysenko who suggested “KAV/KIS MMXIII”, which I personally like the best.

My congratulations go to the winning entrants! We will contact you at the email addresses you indicated to arrange the handover of prizes. The winners can look forward to a license for our PURE home network security suite.

Thanks to everyone for taking part!

Given that 4 is unlucky in Japanese culture, and as a result 14, 24 etc. are we going to have the same issue in 2014 in multi-cultural countries? Keep it simple – 2013 – which everyone will understand – not XIII – which many won’t

Dave, I agree with you: “XXIII”, a lot of people wouldn’t understand that.

It is not fair “first come, first served’ formula. Therefore, the prizes go to those who suggested these ideas first! ”
Not having done a “choice”, i would have preferred hold a lottery with all the ideas :)
