Mask show on Piazza San Marco.
I love to play pranks, act daft, or just play like a kid – especially when the following are present: a large friendly group of like-minded revelers and a real special location.
Just recently both those ingredients were indeed present – and in full effect. It was the evening after one of our partner conferences – for the first time in Venice.
After the business part we decided to go for a little masquerade theme: everyone was to be decked out in period, aristocratic garb, mask too. Then we were all loaded onto boats and ferried to a mooring not far from Piazza San Marco. Then it was stately evening promenade time – crisscrossing the square and slinking down side streets and alleys.
Plenty of children – and grown-ups – kept coming up to our group to stare and make selfies and work out what was going on. I quite liked feeling like a movie star for the evening. I wonder how many of our ‘fans’ were clients?
It was a royally regal ramble; most enjoyable. And then we had dinner in a nearby local palace. There we awarded our best partners with their respective honors and distinctions, and that was followed by a Venetian carnival show. Everyone looked to be enjoying themselves. The next day they were all on planes heading back home (we do hope!) invigorated, more motivated, happier, and ready to keep on saving the world over and over!
“Memory card’s almost full!” sighed my fellow photographer G.K. in a bit of a panic. Here he is:
