The First Bend of the Yellow River.
Next on our China-2024 travel itinerary was the must-visit First Bend of the Yellow River. Different sources refer to this location by different names, and other spots along the river are also called something similar. While not the most picturesque, it’s still one of the great Chinese rivers, and also a sacred place for the Chinese people; therefore – we just had to take a look. And in the end it turned out to be far from boring:
For tourist entertainment and river viewing (especially sunsets), there are walkways and a viewing pavilion (but of course there are:) ->
You can climb up there on foot (and/or walk back down)…
Alternatively, you can buy tickets for the escalator. Can you guess what we did? Actually, I bet none of you can: we bought tickets… but walked up anyway! ->
At the top, naturally, everything is set up for taking photos and shooting videos:
I have to say that the views aren’t super-interesting. Still, we got our checkmark: over there is the First Bend of the Yellow River – where it merges with one of its tributaries, the Baihe River:
And here are some other photos from the viewing platform:
Roaming yaks are a common sight here:
They graze along the roads…
…In the endless fields alongside other animals:
Fancy-dress party? So what did he come as? What’s with the oversized sleeves?…
Actually – no joke: he’s a yak shepherd, and the sleeves are for him to wave his arms about in and steer the yaks!
