Kamchatka-2024 – Part 4: Could this be the world’s remotest hotel?
At the foot of Kizimen volcano in Kamchatka – literally in the middle of nowhere, with no roads or settlements for 70 kilometers – today there happens to be… a five-star tourism base (here)! ->
What? The lap of luxury – out here?! Pretty much. For there’s hot springs, a marvelous view of Kizimen, digital detox (at least – partially; more on this below), delicious food, hunting & fishing, mosquitos, bears and assorted other pamperings to please office plankton. They’ve even done something to prevent insects from coming near the complex!
Upon arrival, we find out there’s more: new, decent buildings; neat paths; welcoming staff. Still in shock at all this, we take a tour round the grounds and of the buildings: one building houses the kitchen, restaurant and lounge – with satellite Wi-Fi. Key here is the word satellite. They could have used the world’s slowest instead: that would be more accurately descriptive. My advice should you ever come here, dear readers: do a digital detox while here – you can then pass on an infuriating internet user experience ).
Here are the living quarters:
Inside – not bad at all. And to think – all this must have been freighted here by helicopter given the total lack of roads! ->
Russian billiards table! Just a shame the walls are too near it – they get in the way when taking shots ->
// I was reminded of a similar cue-and-table sport in a similarly remote place: snooker in Nepal on our trek up to the Base Camp of Mount Everest (at 4000m+!).
“Lux” room:

Simpler rooms:
Nice views out the windows:
Hot spring water – on (a permanently open) tap! ->
Different springs – different temperatures; take your pick!
Innovational simplicity ) ->
Very nice!
Our chopper sitting out the inclement weather (just like we were):

Hurray! The following day’s weather was excellent and perfectly flyable. So off we popped in the direction of Kizimen – the volcano on the horizon that’s smoking:
In short – Tumroki: highly recommended. Perfect for getting (far!) away from it all!…
