Muchas pictures of Machu Picchu – an online book/photo-travelogue

Hola, a todos!

A couple of years ago a bunch of like-minded adventure seekers and I decided to make the long trip to Peru in South America to the long-abandoned City of the Incas – Machu Picchu. We took plenty of photos, and I took detailed notes of our experiences along the way.

The result (finally!) is a book that’s to be published – currently online here in pdf format – chock full of hi-res pics from our travels accompanied by my commentary.

In all it was an unforgettable trip. And I don’t mean just our ultimate destination, but the whole journey getting there too, which is not just a matter of hopping on a plane and hopping back off it near your destination. But that’s what made the whole experience so memorable.

Examples: the rickety train that leads up to the town nearest Machu Picchu; the quaint and contrasting en-route town of Cusco and its Quechua aborigines; and the ‘tambo’ rest-stops along the Urubamba River valley providing much-needed refreshments and time-outs from our trekking.

In all, an exceptional expedition; and Machu Picchu, it won’t surprise you, easily made it into the upper echelons of my Top-100 Must-See Places of the World [PDF, 0.5MB].

And should anyone reading this ever plan on visiting the Incas’ City in the Clouds, what better introduction thereto could there be than this here book we’ve prepared? So read on, amigos!

We loved visiting Machu Picchu and agree with you that the entire trip is part of the journey experience. We just checked out your book online and really enjoyed it. We climbed Huayna Picchu and were impressed to see you made it as well! The view is just amazing, isn’t it? :)
